Pesticides are used for a wide range of things, mostly to protect crops from insects, but even to rid the home and its surroundings from bugs and weeds. Depending on the reason for the pesticide, it will contain different chemicals, so not all pesticides are the same. However, one thing they have in common is that chemical pesticides can be harmful to humans and animals.
What health problems can arise from exposure to pesticides?
This will depend on the type of pesticide you are exposed to. As we have mentioned, different chemicals are used for each type of pesticide, so this will be the determining factor to which kind of health problem you could experience.
Some health problems which are associated with exposure to pesticides are anything from issues with your nervous system to very serious problems like cancer. Hormonal changes can arise from this also.
While some of the symptoms can manifest themselves immediately, others could take some years to show up. These symptoms also vary in their severity, from mild to severe.
For example, some of the milder symptoms would be headaches, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue, while more serious symptoms can be things like trouble breathing, chemical burns, and having difficulty controlling muscles.
These are just some of the possible effects of pesticide exposure, but it’s important to note that they could also be symptoms of many other health problems that are not related to pesticide, and this is in no way a medical blog. It’s good to be mindful of the area you live to determine if you are at risk of exposure to pesticides.
